Which passeth all understanding
6Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
A peace that passeth all understanding... That's not a normal kind of peace; it doesn't make any sense. That's an illogical peace. That's an irrational peace.
These three knew that peace.
16Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
They may not have understood that peace, but they knew it, they felt it, and in that moment, they lived it. If you're not sure how that story ends, please go read the rest of Daniel 3, you won't regret it, you'll certainly get a glimpse of that peace.
These two knew that peace... one of them even penned the phrase "...the peace of God, which passeth all understanding..."
23And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
24Who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Again, if you're not sure how the story ends, read the rest of Acts 16, it's incredible.
Jesus understood that peace, He understood the source of it, and he was the author and finisher of it.
39And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
This peace is the kind that only Christ can provide, He bids us
28Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
7And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
